New Travel Around Kerry Brochure Launched

Bus Éireann, operating on behalf of Transport for Ireland has partnered with TFI Local Link Kerry and Fáilte Ireland to launch a new Travel Around Kerry brochure. This brochure provides information about Bus Éireann and TFI Local Link services connecting Kerry’s towns and villages. In addition, the brochure highlights how all passengers including tourists can benefit from the recent 20% fare reduction on PSO bus services in County Kerry and the 50% reduction available for those with a TFI Student or Young Adult Leap Card, introduced by the National Transport Authority.

Due to the recent fare reductions introduced, passengers on Bus Éireann’s Route 275 service can travel from Tralee to Dingle with a single Leap fare costing just €9.80 for an adult and €3.85 for those with a valid Student or Young Adult Leap card.

The brochures will be available in Killarney bus station and will distributed to tourist offices throughout the county.

Aled Williams, Bus Éireann Senior Operations Manager in the Southern region, said, ‘’Bus Éireann is proud to serve communities across Kerry where we facilitate journeys every day for passengers travelling for work, education or leisure. We are launching our Travel Around Kerry brochure which lists all of the routes that we operate in the county. We want to encourage passengers and visitors alike to leave their cars at home and take the bus where possible. Travelling by bus is an inherently a more sustainable mode of travel than private car usage, because emissions per passenger are up to 80% lower.”

In addition to the 20% reduction in fares introduced in April, those with a Student or Young Adult Leap Card can now avail of a 50% fare reduction on PSO bus services in Kerry.

Due to the recent fare reductions introduced, passengers on Bus Éireann’s Route 275 service can travel from Tralee to Dingle with a single Leap fare costing just €9.80 for an adult and €3.85 for those with a valid Student or Young Adult Leap card.

Alan O’Connell, General Manager of TFI Local Link Kerry, said, “TFI Local Link Kerry provide regular rural bus services and door-to-door bus services to over 90 towns and villages throughout County Kerry. We are delighted to participate in the new Travel Around Kerry brochure, encouraging passengers to make the most of our public transport system and to benefit from the recent reduction in fares on PSO bus services in Kerry.”

County Kerry attracts 1.5 million tourists annually, with Kerry’s exquisite landscape, rich history and the famed friendliness of its locals making it one of Ireland’s most popular tourist destinations.

Miriam Kennedy, Head of Wild Atlantic Way of Fáilte Ireland, said, “Fáilte Ireland is pleased to support the new Travel Around Kerry initiative. Tourism is responsible for creating jobs and opportunities for people across County Kerry and we are pleased to partner with Bus Éireann and TFI Local Link on the new Travel Around Kerry brochure, which lists their bus services in Kerry in one place. This brochure which will be an invaluable resource for visitors to County Kerry and the Wild Atlantic Way, allowing them to keep discovering everything the region has on offer and experience the unique tourism offering in Kerry.”
